Report Submission
Report to be submitted to Connie Cianciarelli (EV005.144)
Time
- This year’s presentations for Phase 1 are scheduled on: Monday, October 17, 2011.
- Each group has to come up with a time slot that is suitable to the group and their supervisor.
- This time slot has to be given to Connie by October 14 for the Phase 1 presentation.
Procedure
- All members of each group should attend their group's project presentation. We also expect that students will stay for the entire hour block. Presentations will be held in a meeting room in EV Building.
- Each group is allotted 20 minutes: 10~15 minutes for presentation and 5~10 minutes for questions and answers. In general, you should provide an overview of your project and present your plan. You can also present any special requirements that your project may have. We expect more than one person to present your project. However, any group member can talk during the question and answer session.
- Remember that one of the requirements is that throughout the 2 presentations (Phase 1 and Phase 2), each member of the group should present for at least 5 minutes.
- The conference room is equipped with a computer and projector (for those who want to make their presentations with PowerPoint), as well as a standard transparency projector. The PC projector has a maximum resolution of 1024x768.
- Groups are advised to make use of their web-space to transfer presentation slides to the conference room.
- Make sure that the format of the file (Power Point) is fully backwards-compatible. Save it as "Power Point 97" (the best compatibility) or "Power Point 2003" (to preserve the most of the features). Another solution is to make a stand-alone presentation (CD) and save it in a directory. The directory will contain your presentation and all files necessary to display it.
Group work report (15-20 pages or decided by supervisor)
- Give a design review (go over what was done up to this point).
- Include design and implementation work where applicable.
- Discuss any deviation from the initial task allocation/schedule.
- Update the schedule/plan if necessary.
- Each student submits 1-2 page summary of his/her contributions.
Presentation (totaol time of 35 minutes per group)
- Maximum of 20 minutes for presentation of the work. Leave at least 10 minutes for comments and feedback. The other five minutes are for set-up.
- Those who did not present the Phase 1 work must make presentation for Phase 2.
- Present your main design/implementation results in Phase 2 and the problems to be solved in Phase 3.
- Justify the modification of your schedule given in Phase 1 if applicable.
Report submission deadline
January 13, 2012 by 12:00 noonPresentation schedule
Starting January 16, 2012
The report is due March 16, 2012 at 12:00PM. There will be a penalty of 10% of the full grade per day for late reports. The poster presentations are scheduled for end-March, 2012.
Report
The Phase III report is the final report of the capstone project. It covers the entire development of the project, not only the work done during the Phase III. However, it is expected that, in this report, the emphasis is on the results obtained and the analysis/assessment of the results. Generally, the following parts should be included in the report.
- Abstract
- Introduction (objectives and outlines of the project)
- Description of the project (design, development, problems encountered, solutions proposed, ...)
- Results obtained
- Conclusion
- References
The number of pages of the report should not exceed 50. The description should be concise. The results should be presented with enough details (e.g. conditions for the tests) so that one can understand easily how you got them and how to use your design/product.
As an option, you may attach materials relevant to your design, as Appendices, to your report. However, an attachment of excessive material is NOT encouraged.
Poster Presentation
- All the members of each group are expected to be present at the poster session, responding to questions from visitors, faculty, students, and examiners.
- The date of the Poster Presentation will be held in late-March, 2012.
- The detailed scheduling of the sessions will be posted here as soon as it is made available.
- Each group will have a poster board of 4' by 8' (1.12m by 2.43m), large enough to put 12 to18 (letter-size) slides depending on the arrangement, and a table to put the materials of the project demo.
- The contents of the poster should cover, in a brief and concise manner, the following aspects of your project:
The objective(s) of the project;
The development of the project; the problem(s) encountered and the solution(s);
The results obtained;
Your conclusion.
The form has three main sections
- Completed Individual Contributions
Highlight the tasks that you have already accomplished. Mention if these were done with another group member. Be as specific as possible. You can include areas you've researched, designs you've developed, simulations you've run, design documents you've produced...- Projected Individual Contributions
List the tasks that you are responsible for until the end of the project. Again, you should be as specific as possible. Include the projected completion date for each item.- Problems Encountered/Comments
List the problems you encountered (either individually or as a group). Also include any comments you feel are relevant.The form is available HERE
