Project Application Procedure
Students are encouraged to form their own group and approach professors with projects selected from the web or with their own proposals. Alternatively, students will be given a project based on their request and availability.
1. If you have found a supervisor who will be supervising the project of your choice:
Download the Application Form for the students having a supervisor (you can also obtain a copy from Connie)
Fill up the form and get the approval from one of the Coordinators Dr. Chunyan Wang .
2. If you have not had a specific project:
Download the Application for a Group Project or obtain a copy from Connie
- List the names and IDs of the group members.
- List the specific competencies of the group.
- Note that you are required to list 3-5 projects in Project Selection.
3. If you have not joined a specific group
The Department will do its best to assign you to a group, according to your domain of interest and the availability of project groups.
4. If you have your own project in mind (Not-listed)
- Write down the project description/proposal.
- Get approval from the Technical Coordinator.
- Contact recommended professor about supervising the project.
Project Selection
- The list of projects is currently available at Projects List .
This list will be updated during the coming weeks until Sept 12, 2008.
Alternatively students can have their own proposal on a project. The project must be approved by a faculty member.
- Projects will be assigned on first come first served basis. Professors will decide to accept a group or not.
- Single student projects are not allowed.
- Students are asked and encouraged to organize themselves in groups of 3 to 6 students and select the area of their choice.
- Students should elect a group leader who will coordinate their activities.
- Once you have agreed with a professor on a certain project, it is important to sign the application form and submit it to the coordinator. Application form can be found here.
- Projects will not be assigned to a group until the application forms are signed by one of the coordinators.
- Students that fail to make their own group, will be grouped by the Coordinators and assigned to an available project in line with their discipline.
- Communication with students will be through Departmental ELEC/COEN 490 mailing list.
